Cheerleading is one of the fastest growing sports in Australia as it’s fun, it’s fast and gives athletes so many opportunities to develop and fine tune their skills, both athletic and communicative. Currently in Australia there are over 35,000 athletes attending competitions and the number is growing every year.
Cheerleading started out in the 1980’s predominantly throughout US colleges. Fast forward 20 years, and the sport of competitive cheerleading has gained interest internationally and is now viewed as a sport in itself. Cheerleading incorporates a combination of jumps, tumbling, stunting and dance all combined into a mesmerizing 2 min 30 second high intensity routine.
Competitive cheerleading is assessed by a live panel of judges following a rigorous set of rules and scoring criteria based on a level of difficulty, precision, creativity and entertainment value to rank teams during a variety of local and interstate competitions.
This is the ultimate team sport where each and every athlete plays a vital role in helping the team succeed. Each team’s routine incorporates jumps, tumbles, stunts and dance to perform during a variety of local and interstate competitions.
New students are taught the basics of cheerleading first which incorporates the safety aspects of the sport. This is the foundation. Once students are totally confident with the basics they can then move to more difficult things more safely. As with any sport though, there is always an element of risk.
TNT All Stars cheerleading program caters for all groups from 3 year olds through to teenagers, adults and parents.
